WHY INDIA?
  • 1.2 Billion People

  • Already containing 17.5% of the world's population, India is projected to be the world's most populous country by 2025, surpassing China, its population reaching 1.6 billion by 2050.

  • India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35

  • India contains the largest concentration of people living below the World Bank's international poverty line of US$1.25 per day in the world.

  • 68.7% live on less than US$ 2 per day

  • The World Bank, citing estimates made by the World Health Organization, states that "About 49 percent of the world's underweight children, 34 percent of the world's stunted children and 46 percent of the world's wasted children, live in India."

  • Conservatively, over 20 million children in India are orphans and live in the streets.

  • 46% of children are malnourished.

  • 41% of the population in India are below age 18.

  • 1 out of 6 girls do not see their 15th birthday.

  • There are approximately 2 million child commercial sex workers between the age of 5 and 15 years and about 3.3 million between 15 and 18 years.

  • 50% of Indian children aged 6-18 do not go to school

Search & Rescue International includes four ministries serving the people of India.

Is composed of Team India (TI) - over 100 preachers who travel to rural villages and establish churches, baptizing 4,000

people a year.


JESUS LOVES CHILDREN HOME (JLCH)

Provides total care - food housing, and education at 3 locations for 100 orphans.


GOOD SAMARITAN CHARITABLE TRUST (GSCT)

Provides food and housing for about 30 widows and 20 aged men who have no place to go.  It also provides medical care, clothing, and other help to people in great poverty.


THE WINGS MINISTRY


Teaches women to sew and stitch so they can help support their families.
